TL;DR: JustWatch TV is here. JustWatch, the streaming guide used by about 50 million people, launched its own streaming service on October 20, 2026. JustWatch TV sits inside the existing JustWatch apps and website and offers a free ad-supported tier, an ad-free JustWatch TV Plus tier at $3.99 a month or $49.99 for a lifetime subscription, and a movie rental store. Content comes from about 30 partners, including Paramount, Cineverse, Fremantle and Bleecker Street, with a focus on older and independent titles.
For 12 years, JustWatch has been the place people go to answer one question: where can I watch this? Now the company wants to answer it with “right here.” The JustWatch TV streaming service turns the guide into a streamer, putting it in competition with free services like Tubi and Plex and with budget subscription services. Here is what launched, what it costs, where it is available and why a streaming guide would want to become a streamer.
What JustWatch TV is
TechCrunch reported that JustWatch TV launched on Tuesday with content from 30 partners, both free and paid tiers and a movie rental store. It lives within JustWatch’s existing apps and website, so current users do not need a separate app.
JustWatch Group first announced its streaming plans last month, naming partners such as Paramount, New Regency, Fremantle, Bleecker Street and Vortex Media. According to Variety, newly announced partners include Cineverse in the U.S., Leonine Studios in Germany, SND in France and Altitude in the U.K. and Ireland.
“The launch of JustWatch TV marks the most important new development in our company’s 12-year history, and it’s only the start,” JustWatch Group founder and CEO David Croyé told Variety.
JustWatch TV pricing and tiers
| Option | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free tier | $0 | A selection of ad-supported titles |
| JustWatch TV Plus | $3.99/month or $49.99 lifetime | More than 300 ad-free titles in the U.S., advanced filters, option to hide seen or disliked titles in the guide, 10% off hundreds of rentals |
| JustWatch TV Store | Per rental | Movie rentals, initially in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand |
The lifetime option stands out. TechCrunch called it “an interesting way to price streaming, given the evolving content costs,” and noted that JustWatch believes there will be additional value in the data it collects.

Where it is available
The two launch reports differ slightly on the market count. TechCrunch lists 12 markets:
- United States and Canada
- United Kingdom and Ireland
- Germany, Austria and Switzerland
- France, Italy and Spain
- Australia and New Zealand
Variety lists 11 markets and does not include Switzerland, so viewers there should check the app for availability. The wider JustWatch guide remains available in 140 markets.
What you can watch
Do not expect the latest blockbusters. TechCrunch notes that, like most low-cost services, JustWatch TV’s lineup focuses on older movies and shows plus more independent content. Croyé framed that as a strength, telling Variety that the service “will help fill in the gaps” and make it easier to watch “hard-to-find titles, right from the app itself.”
Two features are different from typical free streamers:
- Title requests: JustWatch says users will be able to request titles they want, helping shape what comes to the service.
- Guide integration: because it sits inside the guide, JustWatch TV can show its own titles next to links to other streamers. Variety describes a model where viewers can watch on the platform or on their preferred streaming services, plus “Why to Watch” features built on audience data.
Why a streaming guide is becoming a streamer
A huge audience already searching
JustWatch’s guide covers streaming options for more than 500,000 movies and shows across more than 1,500 services, according to TechCrunch, and its data powers some 1,400 partner websites and apps. Studios, distributors and agencies use that data to target campaigns on platforms like Meta, YouTube and TikTok. Every one of those searches is a person who wants to watch something. If JustWatch has the title itself, it can keep that viewer.
More data, not less partnership
“By having our own service with titles to watch directly on JustWatch TV, we can grow our already massive audience, while continuing to direct them to all our streaming partners,” Quentin Carbonell, JustWatch’s SVP of global content acquisitions and strategy, said in an email shared with TechCrunch. The company’s pitch is that the service complements the streamers it lists rather than replacing them.
How it compares with other budget streaming
TechCrunch places the free tier against ad-supported streamers like Tubi and Plex, and the Plus tier against low-cost services like Roku’s $2.99-a-month ad-free service, Howdy. At $3.99, JustWatch TV Plus is a dollar more than Howdy but far below the major subscription services.
The launch lands in a busy week for streaming. Netflix just signed its largest licensing deal yet with Brazil’s Globo and is reshaping its leadership after naming Peter Rice content chief. It also rebuilt its homepage around an AI-powered search tool, a reminder that helping people find something to watch is now a battleground of its own.
Questions still open
- How large the free catalog is in each market was not detailed in the launch coverage.
- How the lifetime plan will hold up as licensing costs change remains to be seen.
- Whether title requests will meaningfully shape the catalog will depend on what partners can license.
The bottom line
The JustWatch TV streaming service is a logical next step for a company that already sits between millions of viewers and the services they use. It will not replace Netflix or Disney+, and it does not try to. Instead, it offers free and cheap access to older and indie titles inside a guide many people already open every week. If you use JustWatch to hunt down hard-to-find films, check the app: the answer to “where can I watch this?” may now be JustWatch itself. Prefer music to movies?
